David B. Wartman, BA, MS, CMC
David recently revived Delta Strategy Group following a 6 year hiatus. For the past year, he served as Chief Executive Officer for Lifeline Malawi, a Canadian-registered charity that operated two medical clinics in Malawi, Africa until he recommended to the Board that the organization be wound down. Prior to Lifeline Malawi David was Managing Partner with Legacy Executive Search Partners where he provided executive search services across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors; and Principal of Delta Strategy Group from 2000 until 2007. He has spent 25 years as a senior corporate executive and management consultant working in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta. Over his career both pre and post executive, David has worked across a diversity of industries ranging from oil and gas to agribusiness, mining, manufacturing and transportation and financial services. Since moving full time into consulting in 2000, David has been providing human resource consulting, governance and executive search services across a variety of industry sectors in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
In both his corporate and consulting roles David has provided active support to corporate clients related to governance, organizational strategy and structure, and to their human resource challenges including recruitment, compensation, and organization effectiveness. During his corporate career, David was the Compensation and Benefits leader for Manulife Financial and the lead human resource executive for McMaster University and the senior Human Resource and Corporate Services leader for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd. (now Nexen Inc.), where his HR oversight also covered the company’s chemical manufacturing operations.
David is a Saskatchewan native, and a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (Regina Campus) with a BA (Great Distinction) in Political Science and from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University with a Master of Science (MS) in Collective Bargaining and Organizational Behavior. He is also a Certified Management Consultant.
David also has an extensive professional and volunteer life that has given him a broad professional network across Canada and into the USA, which enables him to better serve the requirements of his clients both in consulting and search activities.
